Disable the built-in password manager in your browser – Use 1Password!

To disable the built-in password manager in your browser, make 1Password the default password manager:

1. Click the button the 1Password button in your browser toolbar, then click the 1Password in your browser menu in your browser menu and select Settings.

2. In the General section, make sure “Make 1Password the default password manager” is checked.

Then follow the additional steps for Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge oder Brave aus.

If you use Safari

1. Click on Safari in the menu bar and select Preferences.

2. Click the AutoFill icon.

3. Disable all autofill web form settings:

  • “Using information from my contacts”
  • “Usernames and Passwords”
  • “credit cards”
  • “Other Shapes”

TIPP
If you have saved passwords in Safari, you can move them to 1Password to make sure they are safe. Then you can do yours Delete saved passwords from Safari.

If you use Chrome, Edge or Brave

To stop Chrome, Edge, or Brave from offering or autofilling passwords, you need to clear the saved passwords in your browser:

If you use Firefox

To stop Firefox from offering to save and fill your credit cards or addresses:

1. Click on the Firefox toolbar menu and select Preferences.

2. Click Privacy & Security and scroll down to the Forms & Autofill section.

3. Turn off “Autofill addresses” and “Autofill credit cards”.

TIPP
If you have saved passwords in Firefox, you can move them to 1Password to make sure they are safe. Then you can do yours Delete saved passwords from Firefox.

Safari

To stop Safari from offering to save and fill your information:

1. Open the Settings app, scroll down and tap Passwords.”.
2. Tap “Autofill Passwords” and turn off the “iCloud Keychain” option..
3. Tap Back > Settings..
4. Tap Safari > AutoFill..
5. Uncheck Use contact information and credit cards.

TIPP
If you have saved passwords in Safari, you can use a Mac to save them 1Transfer password, to make sure they are safe. Then can You delete your saved passwords from Safari.

Chrome

To prevent Chrome from offering to save and fill out your information:

1. Tap the Chrome menu ⋯ and select Settings.
2. Tap on Passwords and uncheck Offer to save passwords.
3. Tap Settings and then Payment types.
4. Uncheck Save and fill out payment methods.
5. Tap Settings and then Addresses and more.
6. Uncheck Save and fill addresses.

If Chrome still offers to fill your passwords, use your computer, to move your saved passwords in Chrome to 1Password, and then delete them from Chrome.

Firefox

To stop Firefox from offering to save and enter your passwords:

1. Tap on the Firefox menu ≡ and select Passwords.
If you don’t see any passwords, select Settings > Logins & Passwords.

2. Uncheck Remember logins.

If Firefox is still autofilling your passwords, move your saved passwords in Firefox to 1Password and then delete them from Firefox.

Edge

To prevent Edge from offering to save and fill out your information:

1. Tap the Edge menu ⋯ and select Settings.

2. Tap on your account and then on Passwords.

3. If you’re not signed in to Edge, tap Accounts > Passwords.

4. Disable offer to save passwords.
Tap your account name, then tap Addresses and more.
If you’re not signed in to Edge, tap Back > Addresses and more.

5. Disable “Save and fill in addresses”.

6. Tap Back, then tap Payment Information.

7. Uncheck Save and fill out payment methods.

If Edge still offers to fill your passwords, use your computer, to move all passwords stored in Edge to 1Password, and then delete them from Edge.

Brave

To stop Brave from offering to save and fill your passwords:

1.Tap the Brave menu ⋯ and select Settings.

2.Tap Logins & Passwords.

3.Uncheck Remember logins.

If Brave is still autofilling your passwords, move all passwords stored in Brave to 1Password and then delete them from Brave.

Instructions for Windows

To disable the built-in password manager in your browser, make 1Password the default password manager:

1. Click the 1Password button on your browser toolbar, then on in your browser menu and select Settings the 1Password in your browser menu.
2. In the “General” section, ensure that “Make 1Password the default password manager” is checked.
Then follow the additional steps for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Brave.

If you use Chrome, Edge or Brave

To stop Chrome, Edge, or Brave from offering to enter your passwords, you need to clear the saved passwords in your browser:

If you use Firefox

To stop Firefox from offering to save and fill your credit cards or addresses:

1. Click on the Firefox menu ≡ in the toolbar and select Preferences.

2. Click Privacy & Security and scroll down to the Forms & Autofill section.

3. Turn off “Autofill addresses” and “Autofill credit cards”.

To stop Chrome from offering to save and fill your data:

1.Tap the Chrome menu ︙and select Settings.

2.Tap Password manager.

3.Tap and turn off “Save passwords” and “Automatic login” If you don’t sync your passwords with Google, turn off “Remember passwords” and “Auto login” instead.

4.Tap ← twice, then tap Payment methods If you don’t sync your passwords with Google, tap once.

5.Disable “Save and fill out payment methods”.

6.Tap ← and then tap Addresses and more.

7.Disable “Save and fill addresses”.

If Chrome still offers to fill your passwords, use your computer, to move your saved passwords in Chrome to 1Password, and then delete them from Chrome.

Firefox

To stop Firefox from offering to save and fill in your information:

1. Tap the Firefox menu ︙and select Preferences.

2. Tap on “Logins and Passwords” and disable “Autofill in Firefox” and “Autofill in other apps”.

3. Tap on “Save logins and passwords” and then select “Never save”.

4. Tap ← twice and then tap Autofill.

5. Turn off “Save addresses and autofill” and “Save and autofill cards”.

If Firefox is still autofilling your passwords, move your saved passwords in Firefox to 1Password and then delete them from Firefox.

Edge

To prevent Edge from offering to save and fill your information:

1.Tap the Edge menu ⋯ and select Settings.

2.Tap on your account and then on Passwords.
If you’re not signed in to Edge, tap Accounts > Passwords.

3.Disable “Remember passwords”, “Automatic login” and “Autofill for other applications”.

4.Tap ← and then tap Addresses and more.

5.Disable “Save and fill in addresses”.

6.Tap ← and then tap “Payment Information”.

7.Uncheck “Save and fill out payment information”.

If Edge still offers to fill your passwords, use your computer to fill them all in Move Edge saved passwords to 1Password, and then delete them from Edge.

Brave

To stop Brave from offering to save and fill your passwords:

1.Tap the Brave menu︙ and select Settings.

2.Tap on Passwords.

3.Disable “Save passwords” and “Automatic login”.

If Brave is still autofilling your passwords, move all passwords stored in Brave to 1Password and then delete them from Brave.
