Set up Google Search Console and connect the sitemap

The Search Console helps to understand and improve how Google sees the respective website, but is not absolutely necessary to be included in the Google search results! To optimize your website for SEO, we recommend that you set it up.
Here’s our quick guide to connecting your WordPress website to Google Search Console.

1. add property

To register your domain, go to the GSC website: https://search.google.com/u/1/search-console

Use the search field at the top left and select “Add property”.

You must then add the TXT record to your domain. (What is a TXT record?). Make sure that your website can be crawled by Google.

2. connect sitemap of your WordPress website

We recommend using the Yoast plugin for this. The plugin is free to use!

Install the plugin and follow the one-time configuration.

After the setup you can already display the sitemap. To do this, go to the settings of the Yoast SEO plugin.

Copy the URL of your sitemap and paste it into the Google Search Console page. Here you can see an example using the website geo-klimatechnik.de.

After adding, it may take a few hours for Google to process the result.
