Opening blocked attachments in Outlook – how to do it

Who has not seen the following message in Outlook?

Outlook has blocked access to the following potentially insecure attachments:

But what can you do in this case to access the blocked file (.exe, .vbs, etc.)?
If you search the Internet for a useful solution, you will find many programs that offer a solution to this problem. However, if you don’t want to spend any money on this, you can use the following instructions to help you:

The following steps must be taken:

1. open Registry Editor
Start button -> Run – type>” regedit” – confirm> with “OK”

2. open directory
The following location must be called up via the browser function of the editor:
“HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice10.0 (depending on the Office version, a higher value may be entered here!!!)OutlookSecurity”

3. generate registry key
Right-click on the right-hand window -> new -> string

4. name key
The key must have the designation: “Level1Remove”

5. set values for key
Double-click on the new key “Level1Remove” and enter the desired file extensions separated by semicolons in the “Value” window. e.g. “exe;mdb;vbs”
Once this entry has been made, you can now open “exe”, “mdb” and “vbs” files.

6. close Regestry Editor and Outlook
After all programs have been closed, Outlook can be opened again and the previously blocked file attachments can now be opened.
